Katie Smillie, MS

Katie serves as the Senior Data Analytics Specialist in IRP.  Earning a BS in Secondary Education Mathematics from Saginaw Valley State University, teaching high school for five years, and then earning an MS in Applied Statistics from The Ohio State University while lecturing undergraduate statistics courses, Katie has always been passionate about two things: education and numbers.  She began her data analysis work for Ohio State in 2021 when she joined the Student Success Research Lab in Student Academic Excellence.  Katie continues to stay connected to students by periodically lecturing.   

In her role, Katie works to achieve data transparency, accessibility, and inclusivity to drive positive change for all.  She is responsible for pulling and cleaning data, generating visualizations, and documenting data sources and definitions.  Katie provides data expertise and analyses not only for the IRP team, but also for stakeholders across the university.
