Sean McLaughlin
Sean McLaughlin, Ph.D. serves as the Reporting and Analytics Senior Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research and Planning. He coordinates data reporting projects including external requirements such as IPEDS, US News and World Report, and partners across the university to ensure accurate and timely reporting of data.
Sean, a proud Pittsburgh native, received a B.S.Ed. in secondary science education from Duquesne University; he taught middle grades science for several years in Prince George’s County Public Schools, Maryland. He later earned an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Student Affairs administration at The Ohio State University, working in the Office of Student Life for 12 years as the Assistant Director of Off-Campus Student Services and finally the Director of Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement. Prior to joining the Institutional Research and Planning team at Ohio State, Sean served as the Director of Institutional Research at Otterbein University for over 10 years. Sean also is an adjunct faculty member at Kent State University where he teaches higher education data and Institutional Research courses in the Kent State IR certificate program.
